let me just say something about this scene

there was an article that i read a few weeks ago that said steve stole the old suit from the smithsonian in order to make bucky remember

that means that in this scene, steve knows it’s bucky, or at least is reasonably sure that it’s bucky.

you can see the guarded hope in steve’s stance. he wants to believe that that’s his old best friend, but he knows that he can’t fully let his guard down because the man standing in front of him is a dangerous threat.

if you look closely, it seems like steve almost reaches out towards him, like he can’t believe that it’s actually bucky

but he stops himself, because bucky doesn’t remember

because who the hell is bucky?

and you can see that steve has his shield down. usually, in battle and in front of a real threat, steve would put his shield up. but he doesnt want to hurt his best friend, whether or not bucky doesnt remember him. no matter what happened to bucky, steve just wants his best friend back ©
